Taking a 5-storey industrial building as a prototype, a 1/8 scaled building model was established in laboratory, vibration experiment of vertical vibration of machine on sandbag cushion was carried out . Through the above experiment, the effectiveness of sandbag to improve structure safety and comfort was analyzed . The results show that: the sandbag cushion can lead to the vibration reduction in a vertical wide frequency range, which has the effect of dampening the peak value of the floor of the machine and the adjacent floor, and improve the safety of the plant structure. Increasing the number of stacked sandbags can improve the vertical damping effect of vibration. Sandbag cushion can also improve the indoor comfort of the plant structure. After using of sandbag cushion ,1/3 frequency vibration level of the floorslab can be reduced by 22dB at most.
