In this paper, the grinding fine powder of Xinjiang Hotan region as the admixture of volcanic rocks, was applied to the practical concrete engineering of the power plant of tail water gravity retaining wall. To comparatively study the temperature linear expansion coefficient and the selfgrowing volume deformation of volcanic rock powder and fly ash concrete, two kinds of none-stress meter were installed in the retaining wall of the two types of concrete. Based on the continuous monitoring results of the none-stress meter for 10-20 days, the coefficient of temperature linear expansion of fly ash concrete and volcanic rock concrete were calculated. Secondly, by comparing the early selfgrowing volume deformation of the two kinds of concrete, it is found that the selfgrowing volume deformation of volcanic rock concrete is(15-20)×10-6 higher than that of fly ash concrete, which can provide reference for related research.
