The traditional waterlogging prevention measures have been unable to eradicate the growing problem of heavy city waterlogging, “Sponges City” has become the key research direction for the current problems of waterlogging. Taking the waterlogging problem of the old city areas transformed by LID as the research object, this study established a waterlogging model at a city-area level to simulate the waterlogging scenarios in different rainfall return periods and analyze the variations and differences of waterlogging for different rainfall and areas from various respects. The results showed that, the LID measures could overall reduce the area of waterlogging effectively, but for the locally dense buildings, the effect was poor. The LID measures can eliminate waterlogging problems effectively under the condition of rainfall with small return period, but it cannot efficiently eliminate the waterlogging problems caused by heavy rainfall. Interconnecting of different drainage facilities can effectively alleviate the problems of waterlogging.
