The vertical adjustment problem of vertical supporting column is one of the key problems in the construction of top-down construction method. It is difficult to assure the high precision, simple and efficient operations of some projects at the same time through existing methods. Taking an example of a project in Shanghai applying the top-down construction method, this paper introduced a new type of verticality adjustment system and its application effects in the form of "one column and one pile". The practice showed that the application of the new system can improve the construction precision, speed up the construction progress, save construction costs, and improve the quality of the project.
