In consideration of the stochastic property of hydrogeology parameter, the groundwater modeling system GMS software was adopted to develop a numerical model for stochastic parameter simulation of a large uranium tailings impoundment in South China. The effect of the spatial variability of pemeability coefficient on solute transport in groundwater was analyzed. Results show that the spatial variability of pemeability coefficient exerts great effects on the results of solute transport in groundwater. At the same conditions, along with the increase of the standard deviation of hydraulic conductivity stochastic field, the range of contaminant migration expand, contour maps of the standard deviation for pollutant concentration become more and more irregular. Meanwhile, the centroid position of contaminant deviates the center of non-point source.
