Abstract:Tocontrolthetotalamountofagriculturalwateruseandenhanceitsefficiency,weanalyzed
thevariationsinagriculturalwateruseintensityanditsreboundeffect.Basedontheprovincialpaneldata
oftheYangtzeRiverEconomicBelt (YREB)from2004and2022,thespatial-temporalevolutionofag
riculturalwateruseintensitywasanalyzedbykerneldensityfunction.Meanwhile,thereboundeffectwas
calculatedandevaluatedaccordingtothestandardsforagriculturalwaterreboundeffects.Thefindings
indicatethattheaverageagriculturalwateruseintensityintheYREBshowedadecliningpattern ,with
thewaterintensityfromlowtohighfollowingtheorderoftheupstream ,midstream,anddownstream.In
termsofspatialdistribution,theunevenmultiwavepeakdistributionofagriculturalwateruseintensityin
theYREBgraduallychangedtothreewavepeakdistribution,andthedifferencesbetweenprovincesand
citiesnarrowed.Affectedbyagriculturaltechnologicaladvancementsandotherfactors,allprovincesand
citiesintheYREBexperiencedarelativelyhighdegreeofagriculturalwaterreboundeffect ,indicatinga
failedattemptincontrollingthetotalagriculturalwateruse.Therefore ,itisnecessarytoacceleratethe
innovation,developmentandpromotionofagriculturalwatersavingtechnologies,andreducewaterre
boundeffectfrombothpolicymakingandtechnologyinnovationperspectives,soastoachievethegoalof
consumptionreductionandefficiencyenhancementofagriculturalwater.
