Abstract:Thepredictionofkarstgroundwaterlevelispronetosignificanterrorsduetothestrongnonlin
earandnonstationaryfluctuationcharacteristicsofkarstgroundwater.Addressingtothepoorprediction
accuracyproblem ,anEMD-LSTM coupledmodelisproposed.Firstly,empiricalmodedecomposition
(EMD)isusedtodecomposethekarstgroundwaterlevelofBaotuSpringintofivecomponents(fourin
trinsicmodefunctiontermsandoneresidualterm),inordertoeliminatenonstationaryfluctuationsin
waterleveldata.Atthesametime,alongshorttermmemory(LSTM)neuralnetworkmodelisconstruc
ted ,andtheindicesthatarecloselyrelatedtothedynamicchangeofgroundwaterlevel,suchasrainfall
(representingtheaquiferrechargeterm),monthlyaveragetemperature,monthlymaximumtemperature,
monthlyminimumairtemperature,andwatervaporpressure(representingtheaquiferdischargeterm),
areusedasinputitemstopredictthefivecomponentsrespectively,andfinallythepredictionresultsof
thecomponentsaresummeduptoobtainthepredictionvalueofthegroundwaterlevel.Theresultsindi
catethatEMDcansignificantlyeliminatethenonstationaryfluctuationcharacteristicsofkarstgroundwa
