With the social development, the water resources is increasingly becoming an important factor of restricting the economic development. Based on the status and characteristics of water resources in Weihe river,took Shaanxi region of the Weihe river basin as the research object,the paper established the index system of water resources carrying capacity by using analytic hierarchy process in Shaanxi region of the middle and lower reaches of Weihe river basin ,calculated and comprehensively evaluated 11 indicators such as the density of population, irrigation rate and so on. The research results show that Shaanxi is a water shortage province, water resources has become the bottleneck factor of restricting the economic development.In order to keep the economy development better and faster,it is necessary for us to take measures to improve the support ability of water resource. The evaluation results can provide scientific basis for the development and utilization of water resourcesin Weihe river basin.
