Abstract:Toaddresstheproblemofdewateringtreatmentofriverandlakesediment,biologicalenzymes
suchascommonlysozyme , α amylaseandneutralproteasewereusedforconditioning.Correspondingly,
theinfluenceofbiologicalenzymecontent,mudconcentration,andconditioningtimeonthedewatering
performanceofsedimentwereinvestigated.Furthermore ,themoisturecontentofthemudcakeandthe
specificresistanceofthesludgeafterbiologicalenzymetreatmentweremeasuredtoinvestigatethedewate
ringeffectsofriverandlakesediment.Theresultsshowedthatthethreeselectedenzymescouldeffective
lyimprovethedewateringperformanceofriverandlakesediment ,andtheirconditioningeffectswerein
theorderof α amylase>neutralprotease>lysozyme.Notably,whenthe α amylasecontentwas2mg/g,
themudconcentrationwas11% andtheconditioningtimewas0.5h,themoisturecontentofthesedi

mentwasreducedby31.72%,andthecorrespondingspecificresistancewasreducedby167×10cm/g.
Scanningelectronmicroscopy(SEM)resultsshowedthatafterthetreatmenttheparticlesizeofthesedi
mentbecamesmallerandtheintergranularporesincreasedbysizeandnumber ,whichinturnsignificant
lyincreasedthewaterpassagesinthemud ,therebyimprovingthedewateringperformanceofthesedi
ment.
