Abstract:Inviewofthepossiblevibrationdamagecausedbyseismicexcitationtoarcgates,wecom
paredthevibrationreductioneffectofthreetunedmassdamper (TMD)structuresontheseismicresponse
controlofthearcgateinthevibrationoptimizationdesign.TheTMDstructuresaresingleTMD(S-
TMD ),multipleseriesTMD(M-TMD- Ⅰ)andmultipleparallelTMD(M-TMD- Ⅱ).Firstly,a
simplifiedmechanicalmodelequivalenttotheactualarcgatewasestablished,andthedynamicgoverning
equationsforarcgateswiththreekindsofvibrationreductionstructureswereconstructedbasedonD ’
Alembert’sprinciple.Tooptimizethedynamicamplificationcoefficient,themassratio,frequencyratio
anddampingratioofeachTMDwereoptimizedbygeneticalgorithm,soastoachievethebestmatchwith
thevibrationcharacteristicsofthearcgate.Then ,ANSYSwasusedtoanalyzethedynamictimehistory
responseofthearcgatesinstalledwiththeoptimizedvibrationdampingstructures,andtosimulatethevi
brationresponseofthegatesunderdifferentseismicwaves.TheresultsshowthatthethreeTMDstruc
turescaneffectivelyreducethedynamicresponseofthearcgateunderearthquakes ,especiallytheM-
TMD-Istructure,whichhasthebestdampingperformanceintermsofdisplacementandacceleration.
Thisstudycanprovideatheoreticalbasisandpracticalreferenceforthevibrationcontroldesignofarc
gates.
