Abstract:Inviewofwaterecologicalproblemssuchasinsufficienthydrodynamicpoweranddeteriora
tingwaterqualityinXinghaiLake,atwodimensionalhydrodynamicwaterqualitymodelwasestab
lishedwithchemicaloxygendemand(COD)asthewaterqualityindicator.12workingconditionsun
derdifferenthydrologicalcharacteristicsandwaterdiversionvolumeswerecalculatedtoanalyzethe
changesandspatialdistributionofhydrodynamicsandCODinthelakeareaunderdifferentwaterquan
titiesfromtheYellowRiver.TheresultsshowthatthediversionoftheYellowRiverwatercaneffective
lyimprovethehydrodynamicsandwaterqualityofXinghaiLake ,reducetheareaofstagnationand
CODconcentration.Underthesamehydrologicalworkingcondition ,CODconcentrationgraduallyde
creaseswiththeincreaseofwaterdiversionanditsreductionrategraduallyincreases;underthesame
waterdiversionconditions,CODreductionrateinhighflowyearsisgenerallyhigherthanthatinlow

flowyearsandnormalflowyears.Inaddition ,waterdiversionvolumesof14×10 and7×10 m are
neededtomeettheClass Ⅲ waterstandardofsurfacewaterinlowflowyearsandnormalflowyearsre
spectively.
