Abstract:TheYellowRiverBasinbearstheheavyresponsibilityofnationalenergyandfoodproduction
withscarcewaterresources.Underthebackgroundoflimitedresourcesyeteverexpandingdemand,we
exploredthepressureandchallengesfacedbythesustainabledevelopmentoftheYellowRiverBasin,
whicharebroughtuponbythespatialmismatchofwater-energy-foodresources,inthehopeofprovi
dingascientificbasisandreferenceforthehighqualitydevelopmentofthebasin ,aswellasthenational
andregionalcoordinateddevelopmentstrategy.Basedonthemesoscaleperspective ,thecomprehensive
evaluationframeworkofwater-energy-foodsystemintheprefecturelevelcitiesintheYellowRiverBa
sinisconstructedtoanalyzethecouplingandcoordinateddevelopmentlevelandspatialcorrelationchar
acteristicsofwater-energy-foodsysteminprefecturelevelcitiesintheYellowRiverBasin.Theresults
showthatfrom2000to2018 ,thecouplingcoordinationdegreeofwater-energy-foodsystemofthepre
fecturelevelcitiesinthebasinevolvedfrom primarycoordinationtointermediatecoordination ,butthe
coordinateddevelopmentwasinsufficientlyunstable.By2018 ,thedegreeofsystemcouplingandcoordi
nationshowedadownwardtrend.Inmostyears,thesystemcouplingcoordinationdegreeshowedsignifi
cantspatialcorrelationcharacteristics.Fromtheperspectiveoftheprefecturelevelcities ,theresearchon
water-energy-foodsystemismoreregionallytargeted,anditiseasiertohighlighttheindividualchar
acteristicsofsystemdevelopmentatthemesoscale.Furtherstudyshouldbeconductedontheinfluencing
mechanismofthespatialcorrelationofwater-energy-foodsystem ,andthedeconstructionofthedy
