Abstract:Inordertostudytheinfluenceofwetting-dryingcyclesonthemechanicalparametersofmet
amorphicsandstone,thedeterioratingcharacteristicsandmechanismofmajorrockmechanicalparameters
intheprocessofwetting-dryingcycleswerestudiedbylaboratorytest.Theresultsdemonstratethatthe
numberofcyclesisnegativelycorrelatedwiththechangesofuniaxialcompressivestrength ,elasticmodu
lus ,tensilestrength,cohesionandinternalfrictionangle,butpositivelycorrelatedwiththechangesof
Poisson ’sratio;intheinitialstageofthecycles,thechangerateofeachmechanicalparameterisfast,
butitstabilizeswiththeincreaseofthecycles.AccordingtotheanalysisofthedeterioratingdegreeDaf
ter28cycles,thesensitivitydegreeofwetting-dryingcyclestovariousmechanicalparametersisasfol
lows :Poisson’sratio>tensilestrength>cohesion>elasticmodulus>internalfrictionangle>compres
sivestrength.Theanalysisofrockmicrostructurechangesintheprocessofthewetting-dryingcycles
showthatthemaincausesofrockmechanicaldamageinthisexperimentarethedissolutiondissipationof
easilyhydrolyzedminerals ,theexpansionofdissolutionfissuresandthesheddingofdissolutiondebris
particles.Theregressionmodelofmechanicalparametersthatchangewiththenumberofcycleswases
tablished ,anditsreliabilitywasverified.Basedonthetestresultsandmodelanalysis,itisbelievedthat
therockmechanicalparameterstendtostabilizeafter16cycles ,sothisnumberofcyclesisrecommended
fortheselectionofmechanicalparametersinengineeringdesign.
