Abstract:Wateraerationcanreducethecavitationdamageofthedrainagestructure,whichisessential
tothesafeoperationofthehydraulicengineering.Numericalsimulationhastheadvantagesoflowcost
andnoscalingeffect ,anditcanproducemorecomprehensiveflowfieldinformation,soithasbecomean
effectivemethodforstudyingaeratedflowatpresent.BasedontheselfdevelopedNEWTANKnumerical
model ,amixing-concentrationnumericalmodelwasdevelopedtostudytheaeratedwaterflowinatun
nel.Thesimulationresultsshowthatthesimulatedflowvelocityandtheairconcentrationareingooda
greementwiththeexperimentaldata ,whichverifiesthefeasibilityofthisnumericalmodel.Furthermore,
alargeaircirculationwasformedinthetunnelandthereverseairvelocityincreasedfrom2m/sto5m/s
alongthewaterflowdirection.Furtherresultsshowthatwhenthegateopeningwasconstantandtheap
proachingwaterheadgraduallyincreasedfrom5mto15m ,theaerationofthewaterwasfurtherstrength
ened ,resultingingreaterbottomairconcentrationandaerationthicknessattheoutlet,whichincreased
from0.006to0.060,0.08mto0.12m,respectively.
