Abstract:InordertorevealthetemporalandspatialevolutionofwaterusestructureinHebeiProvince,
informationentropytheorywasemployedtoanalyzethespatiotemporalcharacteristicsofwaterusestruc
tureincitiesofHebeiProvincefrom2001to2018.Theresultsshowedthattheinformationentropyofwa
terusestructureinvariouscitiesoftheprovinceincreasedfrom0.68to1.00 ,whichreflectedanin
creaseofstabilityandbalanceinthewaterusesystem.Onthetemporalscale,citieswithintheprovince
werecategorizedas“highlevel”,“mediumlevel”and“lowlevel”accordingtotheinformationentropy
values ,andthediscrepanciesofdifferentlevelsweregraduallyenlarging,andthedifferenceoftheinfor
mationentropybetweenanytwolevelswaslargerthan0.12in2018.Thespatialdistributionofinforma
tionentropyinHebeiProvinceillustratedagradualvariation,whichdecreasedfromtheBohaiRimtothe
inlandandfrom theBeijing-TianjinRim tothesouthernHebei.Theabovespatiotemporalevolution
characteristicsofinformationentropyreflectedtheinfluenceofeconomicandsocialdevelopmentonthe
variationofwaterusestructure.Thefindingscouldprovidesometechnicalsupportfortheeffectivedeci
sionmakingofindustrialoptimizationandlocalwaterresourcesmanagementinHebeiProvince.
