                 Abstract:Theverticalslotfishwayisawidelyadoptedfishpassagestructureinbothdomesticandinter
                 nationalcontexts ,renownedforitsefficientoperationwhichisfundamentallydependentonsuperiorhy
                 drauliccharacteristicswithinthepool.Inthisstudy,weinitiallyemployednumericalsimulationtech
                 niquestoanalyzeandoptimizethedesign.Guidedbytheprinciplethatthemainstreamshouldbecen
                 teredwithinthepoolwithsymmetricallydistributedbackflowareas ,weselectedthreedistinctlayoutcon
                 figurationsoftheverticalslotfishwaypool ,eachwithvaryingdegreesofmainstreamsinuosity.Then,a
                 physicalmodelwasconstructed,utilizinggrasscarp(Ctenopharyngodonidella)asthetargetspeciesfor
                 fishpassageexperiments.Comparativeanalyseswereconductedtoevaluatetheupstreammigrationper
                 formanceofgrasscarpacrossthethreelayoutconfigurations.Byintegratinghydraulicperformancemetrics
                 withtheobservedmigrationoutcomes ,wewereabletorecommendanoptimaldegreeofmainstreamsinu
                 osityfortheverticalslotfishwaypool.Thenumericalsimulationresultsrevealedthatasthedegreeofma
                 instreamsinuosityincreased ,thescopeofthemainstreamexpanded,themaximumattenuationofthema
                 instreamalongthepathwayincreased ,andthevelocitygradientacrosstheverticalslotcrosssectionin
                 tensified.Conversely ,boththemainstream velocityandtheverticalslotvelocitydecreased.From the
                 perspectiveofthetargetspecies ,theexperimentalresultsdemonstratedthatinCase Ⅱ,grasscarpexhib
                 itedaconcentratedupstreammigrationtrajectory,acontinuousmigrationprocess,reducedtailflickfre
                 quency ,shortermigrationtime,andahighersuccessrate.Therefore,CaseⅡ isrecommendedasthe
                 optimalpoolchamberlayoutinthisstudy.Thisresearchprimarilyexploresthreelayoutconfigurationsof
                 theverticalslotfishwaypoolwithvaryingdegreesofmainstreamsinuosityandidentifiestheoptimallay
