Optimizationofirrigationsystem basedongroundwaterlevelthreshold

Abstract:SincethecommissioningoftheMiddleRouteoftheSouthtoNorthWaterDiversionProject,
thegroundwaterlevelintheNorthChinaPlainhasgraduallyrecovered.Theexistingirrigationsystemhas
notfullyconsideredtheimpactofgroundwateroncropgrowth,whichneedstobeinvestigated.Thispaper
usedAquaCropmodeltosimulatethegrowthprocessofsummermaizeinShijinIrrigationDistrict,and
exploredtheinfluenceofshallowgroundwaterdepths (setat0.5,1.0,1.5,1.8,2.0,2.5,3.0,3.5,
4.0m)onsoilmoistureandcropyield.Subsequently,theoptimalthresholdofgroundwaterlevelwasde
terminedbythecouplingcoordinationmodel,andtheirrigationsystem wasoptimizedbythethreshold
regulationforthefirsttime.Theresultsshowthatashallowgroundwaterdepthof1.8-2.0mismost
suitableformaizegrowth.Whenthegroundwaterdepthislessthan2.0m ,thewaterrequiredformaize
growthisprimarilysuppliedbygroundwater ,eliminatingtheneedforadditionalirrigationandsavingap

proximately285.6×10 m wateracrosstheentiredistrict.Asforthegroundwaterdepthof2.0-4.0m,
irrigationisrequiredonceduringbothseedlingandjointingstagesindryyears,onlyonceduringthe

seedlingstageinnormalyears ,andnotatallinwetyears,savingapproximately81.6×10 m water.
Theresultscanprovideatechnicalsupportforthesustainableutilizationofagriculturalwaterresourcesin
irrigationdistricts.
