Abstract:GroundwateroverexploitationinNorthChinaPlainhaveintensifiedwetlanddegradation.Toi
dentifythedegradationsituationinBaodingCity ,weanalyzedthedistributionandchangesofwetlandsu
singGIStechnologybasedonthelandusedataof2000,2005,2010,2015,and2020.Additionally,a
MarkovmodelwasconstructedbyPythontosimulatethewetlandevolutioninthestudyareain2025,un
derthescenariosofnaturalevolution,intensifiedgroundwateroverexploitationandnaturalrecharge.Pre
dictionanalysiswasdulyconductedbasedonthesimulatedevolutiontrends.Theresultssuggestthatthe
totalareaofwetlandsshowedadecreasingtrendfrom2000to2010 ,indicatingaseverewetlanddegrada
tioninthestudyarea.Then,itbegantoincreasefrom2010to2020,suggestingamitigationofwetland

degradation.By2025,thewetlandareainthestudyareaisprojectedtoincreaseby16.23km underthe
scenarioofnaturalevolution;however,thedegradationremainssevereinAnxinCounty,FupingCounty,
QuyangCounty,andTangCounty.Underthescenarioofintensifiedgroundwateroverexploitation,the

wetlandareaisexpectedtodecreaseby13.94km,withsignificantwetlanddegradationdistributinginthe
peripheryofextractionsites.Conversely,underthescenarioofnaturalrecharge,thewetlandareawillin
