Abstract:Thelongtermintrusionofleachate,richinvariouscationsandanions,canleadtothedegra
dationoftheimpermeabilityoflandfillliners,resultinginleachateleakagethatcontaminatessurrounding
soilandwaterenvironments.Inordertoimprovetheantiseepageperformanceofloessasalinermateri
al ,weconductedpermeabilitytestsonartificiallypreparedlandfillleachatetostudytheimpactof
leachateonthepermeabilityofloess.Thestudyfurtherexaminedtheimprovementeffectsofvaryingdosa
gesofcalciumlignosulfonateonthepermeabilityofloessanditsadsorptioncapacityforheavymetalions.
Additionally ,microscopictestsincludingZetapotentialmeasurements,Xrayfluorescencespectroscopy
(XRF),andscanningelectronmicroscope(SEM)testswereconductedtoelucidatetheimpermeability
mechanismofcalcium lignosulfonatemodifiedloessagainstleachateanditsadsorptionmechanismsfor
heavymetals.Theresultsindicatethatahighercompactiondegreesignificantlyreducesthepermeability
coefficientofloess;conversely,anincreasedleachateconcentrationelevatesit.Asthedosageofcalcium
lignosulfonateincreases,thepermeabilitycoefficientofmodifiedloessgraduallydecreases.Overtime,

theremovalefficiencyofPb graduallydeclinesandstabilizes,whilethemodifiedloessdemonstratesan

approximately40% improvementinPb removalefficiency.Thecalcium lignosulfonatemodifiedloess
