Abstract:Midchannelbarsplayanimportantroleinnaturalhabitatconservationandriverchannelstabili
ty.Recently ,theecologicalstatusofmidchannelbarsinthemiddleandlowerreachesoftheYangtzeRiver
areafflictedbymultipleadversefactors ,whichhaveseriouslydamagedthenaturalhabitats.Therefore,itis
necessarytoevaluatethehabitatqualityofmidchannelbars.InresponsetothepolicyofYangtzeRiver
Conservation,eightindicesfrombothnaturalandsocialattributeswereselectedtoconstructanevaluation
indexsystemforterrestrialhabitathealthofmidchannelbarsbasedonthedataof44midchannelbarsin
themiddleandlowerreachesoftheYangtzeRiver.Theweightofeachindexwasassignedbythecombined
weightingmethodofanalytichierarchyprocessandentropymethod.Then ,thehealthstatusoftheterrestrial
habitatofTianxingIslandwasanalyzedasthecasestudy.Theresultsshowthattheimportanceofnaturalat
tributefactorsisrankedasfollows:daysofexposureinthewaterlandecotone,diversityofterrestrialplant
species,vegetationcoverage,anddiversityofterrestrialanimalspecies.Whereasthatofsocialattributefac
torsisinthefollowingorder :areachangerate,permeabilityofprotectionworks,waterquality,andstabili
tyofprotectionworks.Itisfoundthatthesocialattributeshaveagreaterimpactonhabitatsthanthenatural
attributes.Amongthebars ,27% areinaveryhealthystate,62% areinahealthystate,andtherest11%
areinasubhealthystate.Moreover,asthedistancefromtheThreeGorgesDamincreases,thereisaclear
trendofincreasinghabitathealthindexalongthecourse.Amongtheeightindices,theareachangerateand
permeabilityofprotectionworksexhibittheworsthabitatconditions.Theoverallscorefortheterrestrialhab
itatoftheTianxingIslandis72.81 ,indicatingagenerallyhealthystate.
