Influenceofendsillslopeonflowfieldsinstillingbasinsunder
lowFroudenumberconditions

Abstract:LowFroudenumberhydraulicjumpsalwaysoccurundertheconditionsoflargedischargewith
lowhydraulichead,causingtheriskofscourdamagetothedownstreamriverbedandslopes.Thispaper
addressesthecharacterizationoflowFroudenumberjumpsoncasesofdifferentslopesofendsillinahy
draulicprojectusingnumericalanalysis.TheresultsshowthatunderlowFroudenumberinflow ,sub
mergedtransitionflowisformedinthestillingbasin ,andtheflowfieldofthesubmergedtransitionjump
isdividedintocorezone ,developingzone,andbackflowzoneinthehorizontaldirection.Thecorezone
isthendividedintojetinnerlayer,jetouterlayer,rollerinnerlayer,androllerouterlayerinthevertical
directionbasedonthevelocitycharacteristics.Thetimemeanpressureincreasesandthebottomvelocity
decreasesalongthecourseinalltypesofstillingbasins.Thesteepeningoftheendsillslopecausesthe
startingplaneoftherollertomoveupstreamandendingplanetomovedownstream,resultinginalonger
roller.Thegradientoftheunderflowvelocityintheendsillslopesectionis0whenthesloperatiois1∶
3 ,itisnegativewhenthesloperatioislessthan1∶3andpositivewhenthesloperatioisgreaterthan1∶
3.Thisisbecausethesteeperslopereducestheresistanceoftheendsilltothewaterinthedirectionpar
alleltotheslope ,resultinginagradualincreaseinvelocitygradient.Thesefindingscanprovidearefer
enceforthedesignofstillingbasinsinsimilarprojects.
