                 Abstract:InordertoprovideatechnicalsupportfortheoptimaloperationoftheKaiduRiverReservoir
                 andthescientificregulationofwaterresources ,theMIKEcouplingmodelisusedtoforecastthemedium
                 shorttermrunoffinthebasin.TheweatherforecastmodelfromtheEuropeanCentreforMediumrange
                 WeatherForecasts(ECMWF)isselectedasthemeteorologicaldatainputtoconstructaMIKESHEmod
                 elconsistingofsixsubmodules ,namely,evapotranspiration,unsaturatedzone,saturatedzone,slope
                 flow ,riverandlake,andsnowmeltmodule.Then,theMIKEHydrorivermodelwhichisusedforthe
                 riverconfluencecalculationiscoupledwithMIKESHEmodeltopredicttherunoffinformationinthenext

                 tendays.Thecorrelationcoefficient(R),NashSutcliffeefficiencycoefficient(NSE)andrelativeerror
                 (BAIS)areusedtoevaluatethecalibrationandverificationeffectofthemodel,andthepredictioneffi
                 ciency(E)isintroducedtoevaluatethemodelpredictionaccuracy.Theresultsshowthatindailyrunoff

                 simulationoftheKaiduRiver,theR andNSEintheverificationperiodarebothabove0.70,andthe
                 BAISisonly-15%,indicatingagoodfitandcorrelationbetweenthesimulatedrunoffandthemeasured

                 runoff.Intheforecastperiod,NSE=0.53,R =0.61,E=0.51,indicatingacorrelationof0.61be
                 tweenthesimulatedandmeasuredvalue.ThemediumshorttermrunoffforecastbasedontheMIKEcou
                 plingmodelcanprovideareferencefortheoptimalutilizationofwaterresourcesintheKaiduRiverBa
                 sin.
