                 Abstract:Thepoorhydrodynamicconditionsintheplainrivernetworkhaveresultedinprominentwater
                 qualityissues.Toimprovethewaterenvironmentintheplainrivernetworkarea,weselectedhydrological
                 andwaterqualitymonitoringdataoffloodanddryseasonsof2018from19crosssectionsintheBinhuRiv
                 ernetworkinWuxi ,JiangsuProvince.WeemployedtheMIKE21BinhuRivernetworkhydrodynamic-
                 waterqualitymodelandaPythonbasedenergymathematicalmodeltoinvestigateenergydissipationpat
                 terns,therelationshipbetweenenergyandwaterquality,andtheoptimalwaterdiversionflowrange.The
                 resultsshowedasignificantnegativecorrelationbetweenwaterqualityconcentrationandriverenergy.In
                 creasingthewaterdiversionwithincertainlimitsledtoariseintotalriverenergy ;however,uponreac
                 hingathreshold,furtherincreasesinwaterdiversioncausedagradualdecreaseintotalriverenergy.By
                 optimizingthewaterdiversionschemesattheenergytargetlevel ,weeffectivelyharmonizedthediverse
                 factorsinthewaterdiversionprocess.Thisoptimizationallowedustodeterminethedailyoptimalwater
                 diversionflowrangeandtheoptimaltotalenergyrangefortherivernetwork.Thesefindingsprovideaba
                 sisforoptimizingwaterquantitycontroltoensurethehydrodynamicandwaterenvironmentalconditionsof
                 theplainrivernetwork.
