Abstract:Alargeearthquakeusuallyconsistsofmainshockandaftershock.Whentheepicenterofthe
earthquakeisclosetothegroundsurface ,theobliqueincidenceofmainshockandaftershockoftenoccur
nearthefaultarea.Therefore ,itisnecessarytoconsiderthecaseofobliqueincidenceofseismicwaves
atmultipleanglesinsteadofverticalincidenceonly.Threemainshock-aftershocksequencesmeasured
nearthefaultareawereselectedtoderivetheequivalentnodeforceformulaofgroundmotionPwaveob
liqueincidenceinterface ,andthenthefeasibilityoftheformulawasverified.TakingKoynaDamasthe
researchobject ,theseismicresponseofthedamattheincidenceangleof0°-90°wasstudiedundertwo
workingconditions,namely,singlemainshocksequence,mainshock-aftershocksequence.Threeindi
cesofdisplacement,damageindexanddamagedissipationenergywereusedtoanalyzethedamageofthe
dambodyaftertheearthquake,andthelocaldamageindexwasestablishedtoquantifythedamagetothe
dam.Theresultsshowthatwhentheincidenceanglevariesintherangeof15°-75° ,theseismicre
sponseofthedamisgreaterthanthatoftheverticalincidenceunderthetwoworkingconditions.Under
allthreeperformanceindices ,theseismicresponseofthemainshockandaftershocksequenceisgreater
thanthatofthesinglemainshock.
