                 Abstract:ThemiddlerouteofSouthtoNorthWaterDiversionProjecthasbeenthemainsourceofwater
                 supplyforBeijingandTianjinsinceitsopeningtotheoutsideworld,bringingmassivesocialandeconom
                 icbenefitstothesociety.Atpresent ,thephysicalandchemicalindicesofwaterqualityarerelativelysta
                 bleinthemiddlerouteproject,withoccasionalabnormalalgalproliferationinsomechannelsections,
                 whichmayleadtoalgalbloomsifleftunattended.Toaddressthisproblem,theengineeringmeasureof
                 localcoolingventilation ,whichchangedthelocalmeteorologicalconditionswasadopted,andatwodi
                 mensionalhydrodynamicandwaterqualitymodelwasdevelopedforthePenghe-Shaheaqueduct ,and
                 theeffectsofdifferentventilationlocations ,ventilationtemperatureandventilationdurationonwatertem
                 peratureandalgaegrowthinwaterdiversionchannelswerestudied.Theresultsshowthatbothwatertem
                 peratureandchlorophyll aconcentrationarerelatedtoventilationposition,ventilationtemperatureand
                 ventilationduration.Thelowertheventilationtemperature ,thelongertheventilationduration,thegrea
                 terthedeclineofthewatertemperatureandchlorophyllaconcentration,thewatertemperaturecanbere
                 ducedbyabout2℃,andtheconcentrationofchlorophyllacanbereducedbyabout54.5% atmost,
                 bothupstreamonlyventilationandwholechannelsectionventilationcanlowerthewatertemperatureand
                 inhibitthegrowthofalgae ,butdownstreamonlyventilationhaslittleeffectonwatertemperatureandal
                 gaegrowth.Therefore ,localcoolingcanreducetheconcentrationofchlorophyllatosomeextent,consid
                 eringthealgalinhibitioneffectandengineeringcost ,theengineeringmeasureoflocalcoolingventilation
                 intheupstreamisrecommendedforthealgalbloompronechannelsections.
