                 Abstract:Theswirlingblockingcompositeinternalenergydissipatorisanovelenergydissipatorwhichis
                 applicabletotheflooddischargeandenergydissipationofhighdams.Inordertoanalyzeitsapplication
                 totheflooddischargeandenergydissipationofdamswithultrahighwaterhead,itshydrauliccharacteris
                 ticsundertheconditionof200mwaterheadarestudiedbymeansofphysicalmodeltestandnumerical
                 simulation.Theresultsshowthatwiththeapplicationofthisnoveldissipator ,thedischargeis1547

                 m /s,whichisslightlylargerthanthedesignvaluebutcanstillmeetthedischargerequirements.There
                 isastableswirlingflowinthecavity,andthediameterofthecavityintheswirlingsectionisabout6-7
                 meters,withaswirlingangleofabout60°.Intheswirlingsection,thewallpressureisabout110×9.8
                 kPa ,andthemaximumpointvelocityisabout45m/s.Thereisalowfrequencypulsationbetweenthe
                 swirlingflowgeneratorandtheswirlingsection,whichis0.050to0.274Hz,andthecavitationnumber
                 isgreaterthan1.2,indicatingthatthedischargeoperationissafe.Theminimuminstantaneousnegative
                 pressureattheendoftheblockingdiffusionsectionis-3.81×9.8kPa,andthecavitationnumberof
                 theflowissmall ;however,thepossibilityofcavitationwouldbegreatlyreducedduetothehighaeration
                 rateoftheflow.Thedominantfrequencyoftheflowattheendofthediffusionsectionis46.99Hzand
                 thetotalenergydissipationrateisashighas82.1%.Theresearchresultscanprovidesomereferencefor
                 theapplicationofthecompositeenergydissipatortotheflooddischargeandenergydissipationofdams
