                 Abstract:Inordertoanalyzetheefficiencyofcomprehensiveriverregulationworksonwatersystemcon
                 nectivityofsmallwaterbodiesinthepolderareasofTaihuBasin,twomorecriterionlayersoflandscape
                 connectivityandwaterqualityimprovementwereputforwardbasedontheexistingcriterionlayersinclu
                 dingwatersystempattern,structuralconnectivityandhydraulicconnectivity,duetotheprominentfunc
                 tionsofsmallwaterbodiesinecosystemprotectionandwaterpurification.Theconventionalindiceswere
                 modifiedaccordingtotheshapecharacteristicsofsmallwaterbodies ,soastobetterdescribepolymorphic
                 rivernetworks.Inlightofdifferentwaterflowpathwaysandhydraulicconditionsofsmallwaterbodies
                 causedbyvariousregulationsofhydraulicstructures,structuralconnectivityandhydraulicconnectivity
                 werecalculatedseparatelyunderdiverseworkingconditions,andthenweightedbydurationforrelatively
                 stableannualaverages.Then,thisevaluationsystemofwatersystemconnectivityofsmallwaterbodies
                 wasappliedtotheconnectivityevaluationoftheTongziRiverinLiyangCitybeforeandafterriverregula
                 tions.Theresultsshowedthatcomprehensiveriverregulationworkshadasignificanteffectontheim
                 provementofthewatersystemconnectivity,andtheevaluationsystemcouldreflectwatersystemconnec
                 tivityofsmallwaterbodiesundercollaborativeoperationsofvarioushydraulicstructuresinareasonably
                 objectiveandcomprehensiveway.
