Abstract:Toreducetheincidenceofengineeringaccidentscausedbyfoundationpitfailures,theinflu
encingmechanismoflocalfailuressuchassupportfailureandsoilleakageinthefoundationpitwithinter
nalbracedrowpilesupportwasinvestigatedbymodeltest.Theresultsshowthattheaxialforceofthe
supportincreaseswiththedeepeningofthefoundationpitexcavation.Theincrementoftheaxialforceof
thesupportnearthemiddleofthefoundationpitisthelargest ,whereasthatnearthepitcorneristhe
smallest.Inthecaseoflocalfailureofthesupport,partoftheloadistransferredtotheadjacentsupport
throughthepurlin ,andtheotherpartoftheloadistransferredtothedisplacementcoordinationofthe
supportstructure.Whenallthesupportfail ,theoverallstiffnessofthesupportstructuredecreases,and
thesupportsystembecomescantileverrowpilesupport.Thedisplacement ,bendingmomentofthesup
portpileandthesettlementofthesoiloutsidethepitincreasesignificantlycomparedwiththatbeforethe
overallfailureofthesupportsystem.Whenthelocalsoilbehindthepileleaks ,thesoilquicklycollapses
andflowsintothebottomofthepittoformasoilpile ,creatingalargeareaofcollapseoutsidethepit,
whichhasagreatimpactonthesurroundingenvironmentandconstruction.
