Abstract:Forhighgravitydams,thedischargestructuredeterminestheenergydissipationcharacteristics
ofthedischargeflow ,whichinturnaffectsthesafeoperationofthehydropowerstation.Ahydraulicmod
eltestwasadoptedinordertoinvestigatetheeffectoftheshapeparametersofthedischargestructureon
thehydrauliccharacteristicsofthedischargeflow.Thetestresultsshowthatthedecreaseoftheplunge
poollengthreducesthediffusionspaceofthesubmergedimpactjetandincreasestheturbulenceinthe
impactzone ,whichresultsinareductionintheminimumtimeaveragedpressureofthebottomslabin
theplungepool.Inaddition ,itleadstoanincrementofthepeakrootmeansquare(RMS)ofthefluctua
tionpressureonthebottomslabandincreasesitssafetyrisks.Thedecreaseinthelengthofthesecondary
stillingpoolleadstoanincrementintheunderflowvelocityattheoutfluxofthestillingpoolandincreases
thescouringrisksofthedownstream.Moreover ,thereductionintheheightoftheauxiliaryweirresultsin
adecreaseinthetimeaveragedpressureandanincrementinthepeakRMSofthefluctuatingpressure
andsafetyrisksofthebottomslab.Italsoresultsinanincrementinthewaterdepthofthesecondary
stillingpoolandadecreaseintheunderflowvelocityatthebottomofthejumpzone.Meanwhile ,thetur
bulentintensityandthepeakvalueofthe RMSofthefluctuationpressuredecreasebuttheunderflowve
locityatthepooloutfluxincreases.
