Abstract:BasedonthehydrologicalandwaterqualitydatainthemainmonitoringsectionsofDongting
Lakefrom2013to2017,influxesofTNandTPfromthefourupstreambranches(XiangRiver,ZiRiver,
YuanRiverandLiRiver)andthreewaterinlets(Songzi,TaipingandOuchi)ofDongtingLake,aswellas
theoutfluxofChenglingjioutletwereestimatedtoanalyzethespatiotemporalcharacteristicsandretention
effectofthetwopollutants.TheresultsshowthattheannualnitrogenandphosphorusfluxesintoDongting
Lakeshowedanoverallincreasingtrendduring2013-2016 ;butin2017,influencedbythesynchronous
changeofwaterqualityandwaterquantity,thenitrogenandphosphorusinfluxesdecreasedby19.93% and
23.14%,respectively,comparedwith2016.Controlledbyseasonalvariationofwaterquantity,thenitro
genandphosphorusinfluxesdistributedunevenlyintheyear ,withmorethan70% fromApriltoSeptem
ber.Intermsofspatialdistribution ,thenitrogenandphosphorusinfluxesmainlycamefrom thefourup
streambranches ,accountingfor78.48% and71.77%,withthegreatestcontributionfromtheXiangand
YuanRivers.Thefourupstreambrancheswereaffectedbythecomprehensiveeffectofpointandnonpoint
sourcepollutionwhereasthethreewaterinletsweremainlyinfluencedbynonpointsourcepollution.Apart
