Abstract:Improvingwaterresourcesutilizationefficiencyiscriticaltothedevelopmentofhighqualityur
banizationinBeijing-Tianjin-Hebeiregion(BTH).Anevaluationindexsystemofnewurbanization
levelofBTHisestablishedtoevaluateitsspatiotemporalevolutioncharacteristics ,andawaterresources
ecologicalfootprintmodelisusedtorevealitswaterresourcesutilizationpattern.Basedonthis ,thecou
plingcoordinationmodelandspatialmatchingmodelarecombinedtoexploretheirmatchingcharacteris
tics.Resultsshowedthattheorderofnewurbanizationlevelwasasfollows :Beijing(0.82) >Tianjin
(0.47)>citiesinHebeiProvince(0.1-0.4).Spatialdifferencescouldbefoundintheirobstruction
factors,Beijingwasmainlyrestrictedbyecologicalandurban-ruralintegrationfactors,whereasthatof
TianjinandHebeimainlycamefrompopulationconcern.WaterresourcessustainabilityinBTHhasbeen
enhanced,becausethepercapitawaterresourcesecologicalfootprintandfootprintdepthdecreased,and
thepercapitawaterresourcesecologicalcarryingcapacityandfootprintsizeincreased.However ,ecologi
caldeficitinBTHwasstillseverecomparedwithChengdu-Chongqingurbanagglomeration,andhigh
intensityagriculturalwaterusewasthemainreasonforthehighlevelwaterresourcesecologicalfootprint.
Newurbanizationqualityandwaterresourcessupply-demandwereataquasicoordinationstage.Inthe
