Abstract:Thelayoutofthedeepwaterstopschemeofthetransversejointhasagreatinfluenceonthe
stressofthevolutepartoftheaxialflowturbineunit,itisusuallydeterminedaccordingtotheengineering
experience,andthereisnounifiedstandard.However,itiscommonlyrecognizedthatanoptimallayout
ofthewaterstopschemeshouldnotonlymeettheantiseepageandsafetyrequirement,butalsohaveas
lesseffectonthevolutestressaspossible.Basedonanactualaxialflowhydropowerstationproject,the
ANSYSthreedimensionalfiniteelementmodelofthepowerhouseisestablishedtosimulatetheinfluence
ofdifferentwaterstoparrangementsonthevolutestressunderthetwodeepwaterstopschemesofupstream
closureandupstream connectionundernormaloperationandunitmaintenanceconditions.Then ,the
stresschangesofthevoluteinletsection ,theinternaltypicalsectionandtheexternalconcreteunderthe
twodeepwaterstopschemesarecomparedandanalyzed.Theresultsshowthatwiththeriseofthewater
stopposition ,thestresschangesofthevoluteunderthetwoschemesarethesame;butunderthesame
waterstopposition,theupstreamconnectionschemehasmorethantwicethedecreasedmagnitudeonthe
variousstressesofthevolutethantheupstream closurescheme.Therefore ,theupstream connection
schemeispreferredwhenadeepwaterstopoftransversejointislaid.
