Abstract:SongziEstuaryisanimportantchannelforwaterandsedimenttransportationfromtheYangtze
RivertotheDongtingLake.TheconstructionofreservoirgroupsintheupperreachesoftheYangtzeRiv
erhaschangeditspatternofwaterandsedimenttransportation ,whichhasacertainimpactonthehealth
oftheriverandlake.TheinterannualandabruptchangesofwaterandsedimentoftheDahukouRiverin
theEastSongziBranchareanalyzedandahealthassessmentmodeloftheDahukouRiverconsideringwa
terandsedimentprocessisestablished ,basedonthemeasuredwaterandsedimentdatafrom1991to
2017.Withthismodel,thehealthconditionoftheDahukouRiverisevaluatedanditschangetrendis
analyzedfromthefollowingthreeaspects,physicalform,ecologicalenvironmentandsocialservice.The
resultsshowthattheannualrunoffoftheDahukouRiverexperiencednosignificantchangefrom1991to
2017 ,butthesedimenttransportdeclineddrastically,reaching98.5%.Accordingtotheabruptchange
analysis ,thetimenodesofwaterandsedimentabruptchangewere1997,2003and2006,whichwere
consistentwiththeconstructionandoperationtimeoftheupstreamreservoirs.Thehealthassessmentof
theDahukouRivershowthattheoverallhealthoftheDahukouRiverwasinthemediumlevel,ifthecur
rentconditionofwaterandsedimentremainunchanged ,thehealthleveloftheDahukouRiverwould
presentadownwardtrend ,sofurthercontrolandrestorationmeasuresshouldbeimplemented.
