Abstract:Tofurtherimprovetheresolutionandaccuracyofweighinglysimeters,asmallscalelocal
weighinglysimetersystemequippedwithhighprecisionweighingsensorsandreferencebucketswhichcan
eliminatetheinfluenceofenvironmentalfactorsontheweighingwasdevelopedandthenappliedtoob
servericeevapotranspiration(ET)andinterplantevaporation(E).Theresultsshowedthatthereso
lutionof ETandEmeasuredbythissystemcanreach0.005mmand0.003mm,respectively,andthe
correspondingobservationtimeofpeakETandEarelessthanaminute(10sand20sforETandE,re
spectively)fortheidentificationofthewaterconsumption;moreover,itcanstillmanage3-5minutesin
thelowthroughputphase.TheobservationaccuracyofETon15min,hourlyanddailyscalebythisly
simetersystemwereimprovedby3.51%,2.17% and0.77%,andthoseofEwereimprovedby18.
52%,11.81% and2.95%,respectively.Itshowsthatthelysimetersystemcanproduceaccurate,sta
bleandreliabledatawithhighresolution,itisapplicabletotheresearchofagriculture,hydrologyand
otherrelatedfields,especiallyforthemeasurementofsmallwaterchangessuchasshorttermevapotrans
pirationandatmospherecondensedwaterofecosysteminaridregions.
