Abstract:Theclimaticcharacteristicsandevolutionofextremeprecipitationareofgreatsignificanceto
thepreventionandcontrolofurbanwaterlogging ,waterenvironmentalpollutioncontrol,andtheconstruc
tionofspongecities.Basedonthedailyprecipitationdatafrom67nationalmeteorologicalobservatoriesin
JiangsuProvincefrom1961to2020 ,thetrendanalysis,Mann-Kendalltestandwaveletanalysisare
usedtoanalyzethetemporalandspatialdistributioncharacteristicsandchangingtrendsofheavyandex
tremelyheavyprecipitation,aswellastheeffectsoftheMeiyuBeltmovementonextremeprecipitationin
theHuaiRiverBasinandtheYangtzeRiverBasin.TheresultsshowthattheareaalongtheYangtzeRiver
hadthelargestamountofprecipitation.Heavyprecipitationandextremelyheavyprecipitationcontributed
34.5% and11.9% oftheannualprecipitation,respectively,andonethirdoftheextremeprecipitation
eventsoccurredfrom lateJunetomidJuly.InmostareasofJiangsuProvince,extremeprecipitation,
rainydaysandrainfallintensityshowedanincreasingtrend,butonlytheincreasingtrendoftheYangtze
RiverBasinpassedthesignificancetest.Theinterdecadalrainintensityofextremeprecipitationfluctua
