               Abstract:Whenthetunnelpassesthroughtheareaofweaksurroundingrockwithhighgeostressandrich
               water,itispronetoallsortsofadversities,suchascollapses,initialsupportstructureintrusion,distortion
               anddetachmentofsteelframes.Inviewofthisproblem ,MuzhailinghighwaytunneloftheWeiyuan-Wudu

               Expresswayistakenasthestudyobject,andthefinitedifferencemethodsoftwareFLAC wasusedtoes
               tablishthenumericalsimulationmodelofthetunnelwithtwoconstructionmethodsunderdifferentwater
               contents ,namely,thedoublesideheadingmethodandthreelevelsevenstepexcavationmethod.Thedis
               tributionanddevelopmentofsurroundingrockpressure ,verticalandhorizontaldisplacementandplastic
               zonewiththeincreaseofthewatercontentwereanalyzedanddiscussedunderthetwoconstructionmethods.
               Theresultsshowthatwiththeincreaseofthewatercontent ,thestrengthofthecarbonaceousslatede
               creased ,sodidtheselfstabilityofthesurroundingrock,whichinturnaffectedthestabilityofthetunnel.
               Aftertheexcavationoftheupperlevelofthetunnel,thesettlementandconvergencedeformationofthekey
               partsofeachmonitoringsectioninthesoftsurroundingrocksectionacceleratedandexpanded.Withtheap
               plicationofinitialsupport ,thesettlementandconvergencedeformationspeedgraduallyeased,andstabi
               lizedatthedistanceof50metersawayfromthetunnelface.
