Abstract:Whendealingwithspecialsoil,itisveryimportanttochooseenvironmentfriendlyandlow
costmaterialswithgoodpropertiesforthestrengthening.Inordertostudytheeffectofbasaltfiberand
nanoironoxideonthemechanicalpropertiesofgraniteresidualsoil ,sampleswithdifferentdosagesand
mixingmethodswerepreparedfortheconsolidationandundrainedtriaxialsheartest ,andthemicro
mechanismoftheprocessedsampleswasanalyzedbyscanningelectronmicroscope(SEM).Theexperi
mentalresultsshowthattheshearstrengthofsoilsamplesfirstincreasesthendecreaseswiththeincrease
ofthedosageofbasaltfiber ,andpeakswhenthedosagereaches1%;whereastheshearstrengthofsoil
samplesincreasesmonotonouslywiththeincreaseofnanoironoxidecontent.Boththesingleagentand
compositeagentsmethodscanimprovethecohesionofthesoil,butnottheinternalfrictionangle.Inad
dition ,theeffectofcompositemodifiedsoilsampleonsoilshearstrengthismoreobviousthanthatofsin
glemodifiedsoilsample.Theimprovementofsoilshearstrengthiscontributedbytheinterlockingmesh
betweenthebasaltfiberandsoil ,andthefillingofthegapsbetweensoilparticlesbynanoironoxide.
Themethodofcompositesoilsamplemodificationcaneffectivelyimprovetheshearstrengthcharacteristics
ofgraniteresidualsoil.
