Abstract:Waterspaceiswherewatercyclesoperateandcirculate,itplaysacriticalroleinthesupplyof
waterresources ,regulationoflocalclimate,controloffloodandwaterlogging,aswellasthemaintenance
ofecosystembalanceanddiversity.Itiscrucialtothecoordinatedevelopmentof “economicsociety-ec
ologicalenvironment”combinedsystem.Inthispaper,weputforwardtheconceptandconnotationofwa
terspacecarryingcapacityfromthespatialperspectiveofwaterresourcescarryingcapacity ,andsumma
rizedthesupportingrolesofwaterspacecarryingcapacityinthe “economicsociety-ecologicalenviron
ment”systemfromtwoaspectsofthespatialcompositionandspatialstructureofthewaterspace.With
theconsiderationofdisciplinedevelopmentandpracticalrequirementsofintegratedwaterspacemanage
ment ,thefutureresearchdirectionswerepointedoutasfollows:waterspacecarryingcapacityevaluation
systemshouldbebuiltbasedonthestudyofthelinkageeffectsofthespatialcompositionandthespatial
structureofwaterspacecarryingcapacity;acoupledmethodofquantifyingwaterspacecarryingcapacity
shouldbeoptimizedandconstructed;theresearchonwaterspacecarryingcapacityofmultiplespatiotem
poraldimensionsshouldbestrengthened ,soastoprovidepracticalmanagementanddecisionmakingrec
ommendationsforthesustainabledevelopmentandutilizationofwaterspaceresources ,aswellasimprove
thecarryingcapacityofwaterresourcesinanallroundway.
