Abstract:Hydraulicconcreteconstructionsarepronetocracking,whichcompromisesthestructure’sin
tegrityandsafety.Torepairthecracksandreinforcethestructure,effectivemeasuresmustbeimplemen
ted.Athreepointbendingconcretebeamwithprecastcrackswastakenastheresearchobjecttoinvesti
gatethemechanicalpropertyandfailuremodeofthebeam beforeandafteritwasrepairedbyhigh
strengthepoxymortar.Meanwhilealaboratorymechanicalexperimentwasconductedtoverifytheaccura
cyofthematerialparametersandmodelsettings.Thebondingeffectbetweenthecrackandtheepoxy
mortarinterfacewassimulatedusingzerothicknesscohesiveelements.Thefindingsrevealthatthebear
ingcapacityoftheconcretebeamrestoredwithhighstrengthepoxymortarperformedevenbetterthanthat
oftheconcretebeamwithoutcracks.Withtheincreaseofthecrackheightratiooftheepoxymortar ,the
ultimatebearingcapacityoftheconcretebeamincreasedfirstandthenstabilized.Afterachievingitsfinal
ultimatebearingcapacity,therepairedconcretebeam’sstrengthrapidlydeteriorated.Finally,acalcula
tionformulaforquantifyingtheincrementoftheultimatebearingcapacityofconcretebeamsafterrepair
withvariouscrackheightratioswasproposed ,whichcanbeusedtoprovidetechnicalassistanceforthe
repairofconcretestructures.
